Shawnee Cluster of Dog Shows and INBC Lure Coursing

Shawnee, OK

This show cluster started off on Friday with Demi winning Winners Bitch/Best Opposite Sex (over a special – Duri!) at the Muskogee KC show for another point towards her championship. At the INBC ASFA Trial, things got quite exciting! Boudie won the Field Champion stake (and went on to win the BOB run-off), with Sassi taking 2nd. Sassi’s placement gave her enough points to finish her LCM!!! I am so thrilled as Sassi is my first homebred field champion! This also makes for the first homebred LCM for Victor!

On Saturday, we had elected not to enter the show since we had formed an opinion regarding the judge that day 😉 INBC hosted an AKC field trial and JC tests which we participated in. Away from the watchful eyes of her show handler Jill, Duri completed her JC – we’ll break the news to Jill later as I don’t think she expected her to be on the field! At the trial we had some interesting courses (and judging) with Boudie ending up 3rd, and Sassi NBQ in a stake of 6 entries.

Sunday was the “big day”, beginning with the conformation showing. Astyn won the Open Dog class and went on to take Winners Dog/Best of Winners for his first points! Then, Magik won the Open Bitch class and then on to Winners Bitch/Best Opposite Sex! Then it was on to the AKC trial. Vi had come for the day as she was picking up Boudie to go home for the summer months and get re-acquainted with his sibbies. And what a performance he turned in for his mama to see! Boudie won the Open stake of 6 entries, then went on to defeat the Field Champion for the Breed. The decision was made to run him for Best in Field – which he then WON! This win gave him a 5-point major as well towards his AKC FC. Vi said he slept contentedly the whole way home!

On Monday there was no coursing, but at the shows, both Astyn and Demi won Reserves. Whew – what a weekend!
