Atlanta, GA ASFA Lure Trials and LGRA Racing
May 24-26, 2003

Well – it didn’t turn out as we had hoped for the racing, but we certainly can’t complain about our Georgia trip. On Saturday we had a Field Champion stake of 11 and in the end, Monkee placed 2nd, Flareon was 3rd, and Sassi was 4th. Miss T had tied for NBQ, but lost the run-off. In addition, Rocki ran in an Open stake of two, and won it for his first ASFA points (8).

On Sunday, we only ran Sassi and Monkee in the lure trial. Sassi came away with a Best of Breed win with a total of 9 Field Champions and 4 Opens entered. Monkee placed 4th.

Unfortunately, the racing performances we had hoped for were not to be. Miss T got spooked in the first heat, and stopped – we still haven’t figured out what got into her head. And then Flareon didn’t seem to be putting much effort into her performance in her first heat. We then got rained out but continued the next morning. We hoped that a night sacked out in the hotel room would put the girls into a faster frame of mind – but it was not to be. In the second heat. Miss T went off course at about the same place that she had gotten spooked at the night before. Flareon just loped down the track. So we skipped the meet for Monday and spent it driving home with a pack of weary dogs.

Sola also came along to do a little Silken “PR” and was well-liked by those who saw her and she brought many visitors to our pens.
