Our Borzoi “diva” Boo (Gryffyn’s Aeyrie Boudicca) has not shown much at all-breed dog shows, the majority of her experience being attending two national specialty shows. She was entered for two days at the Lone Star Classic show cluster (three days of all-breed dogs shows, and one day of specialty shows, which at this time do not include Borzoi).
At the Trinity Valley Kennel Club show on Friday, Boo took Reserve Winners Bitch from the Bred-by Exhibitor class.
On Saturday at the Greater Collin Kennel Club there was a large enough entry for a “major” in bitches. Sadly – it broke when a bitch was found to be absent. I had another bitch entered (Faina) who has been searching for majors. I figured there was scant chance of the judge putting up a class bitch over the four bitch specials – so at the last minute Faina was pulled from competition.
Boo won the Bred-by Exhibitor bitch class (of three), and then went on to be awarded Winners Bitch for the championship points. The big “hurrah!” moment came when Boo was pulled out behind the eventual breed winners and awarded not only Best of Winners, but Best Opposite Sex over all the bitch specials! This gave her a 4-point major (her first major too)!
